Excitement has been building at SVT Headquarters all summer as work on the next Mustang Cobra, the Shelby GT500, has finally reached the prototype build stage. Getting up-close-and-personal with the pre-production vehicles has re-energized team members who've been anxiously awaiting a new SVT flagship ever since the last of the 2004 “Terminator” Mustang Cobras rolled out of the old Dearborn Assembly Plant. But nothing in recent memory comes close to the kind of buzz created when Carroll Shelby himself showed up at SVT to evaluate the new GT500, confer with the engineers, have lunch with the team and even mingle with the staff for autographs and photos. Let's face it, working with an automotive legend is truly the stuff of dreams for any enthusiast.
